Uitenhage’s Dance Extravaganza

Uitenhage, which is Nelson Mandela Bay’s oldest town, will be home to a dance extravaganza of a different kind, move over “So you think you can dance”, there is a new kid on the block. The dance show named, “FULLY CHARGED, The sequel” will be held on Saturday, 22 October at the Uitenhage Indoor Sports Centre with doors opening at 18:15.

“The Just Dance school is bringing some excitement into our town, we might not be a city, but that wont stop us from bringing good quality shows to our historic town from our own people and talents, this extravaganza however, is not only for Uitenhage and Despatch, it is also for Port Elizabethan’s and all residents of Nelson Mandela Bay to unite and have a good time, we will bring it, all we want is for you to feel it” said the show’s choreographer and owner of Just Dance, Shirley Louw who is Uitenhage born and bred.

“For the last 8 months Just Dance has been preparing to do a show of a very high standard for all to enjoy.  We are performing a variety of dances to keep you glued to your seat wanting more. The Indoor Sport Centre will be transformed into a theatre and a massive stage will be built especially for our performances along with awesome sound and special lighting” added Louw.

This year, Just Dance which is the only registered dance school in Uitenhage, is celebrating its ten year anniversary and offers professional dance classes for seven to twelve year olds and also 13 – 21 year olds. Adult classes are in the form of dance fitness and kept at a social level.

“The dance classes are growing from strength to strength and we have kids from all walks of life who are part of this dance revolution that is taking place. I teach kids from Kwanobuhle and Rosedale in Despatch as well, I am really hoping that next year, I will be able to provide dance classes at a very low cost to children that are less fortunate” added Louw who is a mother of two and took up dance classes ten years ago.

Tickets for the show are sold in Uitenhage at POSTNET, Brockets Sports, Melissa Anderson’s Photo Lab, Perfect Image (Graaff-Reinette Rd) and POWER BAND motorbike shop in Despatch, they come at a cost of R60 per seat and for those that would like to purchase tickets at the event, doors open at 6:15pm, show starts 7pm and there are 700 good viewing seats.
